What our clients say already...

We would like to share our first feedback from our families who have already used our nannies during Christmas
"I just wanted to drop you a line to say how fantastic we found your service. From initial contact and communication with you through to our fantastic nanny Sam. We thought Sam was tremendous, she made us feel as ease straight away and most importantly was wonderful with our daughter Evie. Nothing was too much for Sam and she obviously loves what she does.  It meant I could really enjoy skiing and have a break. I would most definitely recommend Merinannies."  Thanks again
Polly (Miles and Evie)! ST ANTON
Klara was absolutely fantastic & I would happily recommend her to anyone.  She was lovely with the children, trustworthy, polite & took the initiative when needed.

Thank you so much Busia is lovely and very accommodating .
Girls are well behaved around her .

Samoens Nannies

With the run up to Christmas, our Nannies are busy exploring their new surroundings and making them self familiar with the town. Finding out all about what to do in the area, along with essential knowledge of emergency contacts, hopefully not to be needed, but being prepared all the same.
"The locals and seasonnaires have been very welcoming and are happy to help where necessary. The tourist information office has also been visited regularly where we have taken many leaflets to give us an insight to happenings in and around Samoens."
The Christmas spirit is definable in the town, with the lights, that look beautiful in the evening and the increasing presence of families, the town is starting to come alive. Not to mention the snowfall too, it will definitely be a picture perfect White Christmas for all of us out in resort. In the evenings the bars and cafés are starting to get busier and teamed with music it is evident that the atmosphere is something to be enjoyed.
"In my spare time I am busy planning activities to do with the children and collecting junk from cardboard boxes to yoghurt pots and anything that we can get creative with. Making play dough is on my imminent agenda too as this can be fun for all ages. Salt dough too will be used a lot as then when it dries the children can decorate and take home as a reminder/souvenir of their time here. The activity I am most looking forward to is making giant marbles. By adding food colouring and water in to balloons and placing them outside over night, the next day with the children you can take them into the garden and use them as marbles as they will have frozen...great fun!"

From all at Merinannies we wish you a lovely Festive break and a very Happy New Year.

Kind regards

St Anton latest news

Tonight during the Tourist Board meeting we found out some exciting news about St Anton's new developments for the season 2013-14.

St Anton am Arlberg is kicking off the season with music and extensive ski testing.
On the 13th and 14 December when TV will be filming on the Mooserwirt's outdoor stage  the best party hits for the season.
There will be ski show every Wednesday on big screen with 3D effects and admission is free.

Even more safety for the little ones this season with updated design of the Galzig lift to prevent kids from slipping off the 6 seater chair.

New packages offer Wedel weeks from 7 to 21 December to start the season with a discounted price.
Powder snow weeks from the 4 to 25th January for deep snow enthusiasts, this is to experience the true powder and make first tracks on virgin snow.
Ladies first feel good weeks 4 to 25th January where ladies can collect a book from the Tourist Office which includes vouchers for free drinks, ski hire, relaxation and pampering.
Sun ski weeks from 15 March to 5th April for perfect conditions and sun melting hotel rates.
Snow crystal days 22 to 27 April with half price lift pass and hotel prices too.
This year there is also the downhill Thrill on the 19th April and before that the Snow volleyball world tour from 5 to 6 April too.
There is of course a climbing and ice climbing centre and wellness centres too, heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, ice-skating, tobogganing, a leisure centre, bowling, walking, special runs for snowboarding and cross country skiing.

So St Anton is not just about exploring its 340 km runs and 200 km back country terrain ...there's so much more to it , and on top of this all, they have teamed up with Vail and will be
sharing use of ski passes too!
St Anton Nannies , part of Meriannies private nanny service, can offer quality childcare for any duration, a day or whole week/s, and flexible packages to suit everyone.

Fun pampering for kids!

Strictly for kids ...pampering at Le Grand Bornand !

The Ô Des Cimes Spas d'Altitude at  Village de Lessy, in Le Grand-Bornand offers a Kids Spa where children aged between 6 and 12 years old can experience the a little pampering, just like their parents. Five indulgent and fun treatments are on offer: "Sandman" (massage), "Chocolate wrap" (wrap), "1,2,3 Sun" (mother-daughter manicure), "Softly, Softly" (soft sugar scrub), and "Twinkling Star"(facial). Prices start at 30€ for 30 mins. There's also a treatment specially for teenagers (€45) and an introdution to applying natural makeup at €35 for 45 minutes.
The products used are specially conceived for young skins

Le Grand Bornand area offer a Mini-domaine skipass which will give access to all the easy slopes at the top of the Joyère and Rosay cable cars and key lifts from Le Chinaillon for €17 (under 8 years old) or €20 (under 15 years old) per day.

It is hard to imagine a more relaxed and traditional setting in which to ski, and the ease of accessibilty is another plus factor for skiers from the UK. The terrain accommodates just about everyone from first-timers up to freeriders and freestyle skiers, while the Famille Plus label underlines a continuing commitment to family skiers. Add nearby La Clusaz (included on the Aravis lift-pass) for mile hungry family members would keep everyone happy.

Team this with an excellent private nanny service and you have the recipe for a dream winter family holiday.

Monty goes skiing

This book had us smiling from beginning to end, it is very true and correct to what we see daily on the slopes. Hats off to Richard Liddle who wrote the story, it is evident form the book that his experience shines through. Monty is a curious Marmot who is keen to not only see and explore the mountains but to do it on ski's. After seeing everyone else having fun he wants to see what he is missing out on. With the help of his new friend Mortimer, that's exactly what he does. With some ups and downs on his way Monty is eager to head back for more.

The story incorporates terminology that children will hear in lessons, so introducing them to this through a fun story is a great way to start them off. I would read this to children before they go on holiday, especially to apprehensive children, to show them what fun can be had.

Ski show celebrations

London Ski and Snowboard show celebrated 40 years this week with fine wine, indoor ski slope, ice ring, lessons, shops and music. We were thrilled to meet some old friends and make new ones too.
Little Skiers stand was delightful with some excellent child friendly products and we managed to get lots of copies of MONTY GOES SKIING, by Richard Liddle,  the BASI instructor and author of this book. Our nannies will love to share this book with our little clients and talk about the excitement of  skiing.
We met the huskies in the Tirol stand and enjoyed some lovely raclette and proper French produce.
There was a wonderful winter atmosphere and lots of children around having fun on the slides and the bouncy castle.
Many booked their holidays and many are still planning.
If you are one of the ones who cannot decide where to go to please the whole family, give us a call . We will be delighted to hear from you .

Half term blues?

No need to spend a fortune on a family break this half term or stick the kids in front of the TV.
There are many in house boredom busters as well as the usual Autumn garden ideas from wildlife spotting, picking and printing leaves and nuts for collage and painting. Potion making ready for Halloween, junk modelling, secret art, imaginative and scary play, face painting, baking Halloween cats, mobile hangings, shadow play, bats and cats garlands and more....

And of course with all that saving you can plan your snow holiday when the kids have gone back to school!

A cracking Easter

And what our clients say

Kelly looked after our daughter Amélie whilst we were in St Anton and I wanted to let you know that we were very pleased with the service that she provided and we would definitely use you and her again if we find ourselves in the resort in the future.
I just wanted to thank you for organising a nanny to look after our twins. Rebecca was great, the twins took to her immediately. She brought toys for the twins to play with and took them out each day. She was very flexible towards our requirements, even when we were late off the slopes! I would not hesitate to recommend Rebecca, she was terrific and we were very comfortable to leave the twins in her care.

What our families say

Many thanks for providing such great childcare and we will certainly be in touch next year."
"The kids took to her straight away and she made each day fun and interesting. She definitely made an impact as now we are home they keep asking about her."

"Pamela's experience with children shines through. When we returned the chalet it was always an oasis of calm. This is something we are not used to especially with our youngest son who is somewhat challenging."

"Both Sian In Megeve and Marie in La Tania were really good with the children and looked confident and in control (which is always a good thing when dealing with 2 year olds). Little Christina is still asking about where Marie is!"

There is enough snow to last till the season ends but there are not many childcare places left.
Our season has been fantastic so far and with feedback like the one below we only have some little gaps to fill in late March and April.

They went swimming, ten pin bowling and tobogganing as well as going for lunch on a number of days. Well done Rosie it made a potentially difficult week due to ill health as good a week as possible and my husband and I managed to have some much needed time together skiing  on the slopes of Meribel. Would recommend Merinannies and Rosie to any other Mums and Dads. S.H

Fantastic nannies

Fresh news from a client in Chamonix

We were so happy with Elyse, she was absolutely fantastic. Stella took to her right away and loved the time they spent together. She is clearly very good with children with such a warm caring approach, while ensuring Stella was safe, happy and entertained all day. She texted us updates throughout the day which made us even more comfortable. She made our first babysitter experience so easy (almost too much as it will be so hard to replecate!). Thanks so much for your help and for sending us such a wonderful nanny.
